Service Learning Club
The Service Learning Club is club set up in aid of the less fortunate within our community. The club comprises of students who are keen to serve the community and help make the lives of both people and animals in need better. The students also aid in environmental projects.
The Club participated in three National Competitions this year. One of which was the Singapore Kindness Movement Poetry Writing Competition. The competition saw students writing poetry accompanied with illustrations to help spread the word on kindness. In addition to this, ten students were also nominated as Singa Ambassadors 2020. As part of their project, ‘Be Kind, Say THANK YOU’, the students have done up postcards to show gratitude to school staff, peers and members of the community. We do have more postcards and we welcome you to use them with your classes/CCA to work with students to show gratitude towards those around them.
A team of four Secondary 3 students (Tian Tse, Valerie, Phiona and Aisyah) have been given a grant of $1800 by Citi Bank to conduct an initiative for a charity of their choice. They had to pass live ZOOM interviews by Citi Bank to get the grant. The students then created art work and sold it in aid of Causes for Animals Singapore (CAS). To top things off, they also designed infographics and created write ups to support a nationwide vaccine campaign for 1000 street and shelter animals in Singapore of which $46 200 was raised in partnership with the shelter.
The Service Learning Club hopes to continue spreading love and kindness not just within North Vista Secondary but to various communities in need via their various Welfare Projects. We hope to develop Vistarians of Character who have the commitment and passion to make the world a better place!
